Part 3: Making the Bed & Breakfast
The next major part of Miriam’s display is a bed & breakfast, which connects directly to the neighborhood. She started out by cutting 4 boards for the base of the display with the Industrial Hot Knife: 3 layers of EPS foam and a top layer of pink XPS foam for better details and a cleaner look.
Once the base boards were cut out, she glued them together with Foam Fusion.
Next, she added another XPS foam layer for the bed & breakfast village piece to sit on.
After that, she took her 3-Inch Hot Knife and carved cobblestone pathways around the central fountain.
To make the sides consistent with the rest of the display, she used her Sculpting Tool to carve faux stone ridges and details, then painted them and the cobblestone paths with a black wash, a couple shades of gray, and a little dry brushing of brown.
Once the paint dried, she added all the details and decorations like grass, flowers, and more.
