3D Oceanscape Mural

Denise Mooney set out to decorate the walls of her outdoor pool lanai, and what better theme for pool decor than an under-sea landscape? She painted the walls and planned out where she was going to place the main pieces of this oceanscape project: 3D manatees made out of insulation Styrofoam.
Using a Hot Knife and other tools, she sculpted the shapes of the manatees, then coated them with Mesh and Exterior Foam Coat mixed with Boost.
The artwork features 5 manatees in total, each uniquely hand crafted. This was Denise’s first project working with our products and the end result is absolutely stunning!
With the manatees finished, Denise went on to add more undersea creatures to the art piece. She made an octopus using a Styrofoam head with pool noodles for tentacles. She used metal wires in the tentacles to help them keep their shape.
She also carved a sea turtle and some adorable baby sea turtles out of foam, each one featuring a base to give them the right angle when placed on the wall.
A new addition to the decor is an adorable manatee popping out of the pool!
The finished art piece adds life and fun to the pool area!
