Giant “Once Upon a Time” Teacup

This was my first time exploring the foam medium. The project was for a “Once Upon a Time??? themed event at a club in South Beach, Florida called Bagatelle. They had intended to have a model dressed as a ballerina dance in the teacup throughout the night but I believe it ended up being placed on top of the bar. Process wise, I purchased 2’’ pink panther foam and cut into small wedges to create the overall shape of the teacup.
It was a challenge to form the shape of a large teacup but I used the Crafters Sculpting Tool Kit for the bulk of the work. After sanding the teacup I hand painted floral details traditional to teacups. The funniest part was I built the whole teacup in our basement and had to cut the whole thing in half to get it out of the basement (luckily i expected this from the start, but still a bit unnerving!) From Philadelphia, I sent on a pallet via freight to Miami. It was such a fun project and it really got me hooked on working with foam!
