Stranger Things Vecna’s Clock

Casey Rummerfield

Straight out of season 4, Casey Rummerfield built these replicas of Vecna’s grandfather clock and the door with the rose window pane. The clock features fog effects, motion, and sound and both feature animated lighting effects.

“First I took measurements from a real grandfather clock and scaled them to my needs, then traced out the parts on some scrap foam and did most of the cutting with the 4-Inch Hot Knife. I attached the foam pieces together with glue and wooden barbecue skewers, then weathered the ends with the Sculpting Tool.”

“For the door/ brick wall, I used a rotary tool to cut the mortar lines and door edges. I had some leftover trim pieces from a room remodeling project, so I cut and glued them in place, then painted both parts with latex paint and weathered them with a dry brush technique. The “stained glass” was made with a scrap piece of acrylic and colored white glue.”

“Using cues from photos of the T.V. show clock, I 3D printed the clock spires, one of the clock faces, and pendulum parts. For the door, I 3D printed the door knob and backing plate.”

‎”I used a microwave turntable motor and 3D printed parts to make the pendulum swing.”

“Finally, I used an electric prop controller for the sounds, fog machine, and lighting control. This was a challenging project, but I think it was well worth it.”
