Castle of Chaos Graveyard Haunt Set

Ethan King of Castle of Chaos

Ethan and the Castle of Chaos team put a lot of hard work into constructing this chilling graveyard set as one of the new additions to the Castle of Chaos haunt in Midvale, Utah. This particular set features tombs, mausoleums, archways, and more all done with a realistic stone-like finish.

“This is a 750 square foot outdoor graveyard. This scene doesn’t only act as a set but also as theming for our customers queue line. Customers can watch as guests walk through just on the other side of the cemetery walls, seeing only what we want them to!”

“It all starts with an idea and drawings. We then have to plan accordingly for the weather, in this case, the set will be outdoors permanently through Utahs winters. After lots of planning comes construction. Everything is marked on the concrete before we start framing.”

“After all of the boring construction comes the fun part, FOAM! In this case we used both EPS and XPS foam boards/ blocks for the entire set. Bigger pieces were carved with the Hot Wire Foam Factory Bow, and smaller details with the Pro kit. Rasps, sandpaper, and skewers help out as well.”

“After we make a snowy mess with all of the foam we need to coat it. We used a hopper to spray on over 20 bags of Exterior Foam Coat mixed with 10 gallons of the Boost additive.”

“After the coating drys we hand brush/ trowel on a thicker layer on high touch point areas. Paint and set deck come after which really brings this set to life at night!”

“This set has 4 huge animations, 15 speakers, scents, and fog that really keep you in the space walking through this eerie graveyard! You can experience this new graveyard along with 10 other new rooms at Castle Of Chaos this season in Midvale Utah!”
