Breeding Mount

I have done quite a few sculptures in foam through the years using hot knives, but I ordered your Basic Sculpting Tool Kit a month ago and liked this tool so much that I did this entire project with it, only using sandpaper for the finishing details!
About this project: I decided to add a horse head to my breeding mount. A breeding mount is something that a stallion mounts to collect semen from, so we can ship the semen. I thought that adding a head, to make it resemble a real mare, would encourage the stallions to mount a little easier. We affectionately refer to our breeding mount as “Lola??? (long story…LOL). So here are photos through the various stages of Lola’s head. I used 2??? foam board, which I cut the basic shape of the head and neck using the Hot Wire Sculpting Tool, and then layered together to the needed thickness of 10???.
Starting the rough shape of the head using only the Sculpting Tool. This was my first time using this tool, so it took some getting used to, as I have always used a Hot Knife in the past. Once I got the hang of using the pressure from my fingers to control the tightness of the wire, I was in love!
Here is the finished head, attached to the breeding mount. So far it has worked great and my stallions are in love!
