Our Hot Knives have found another use outside of cutting foam! Ted Woodford put together this in-depth video on how to reset a guitar neck using our 4-Inch Hot Knives. The technique comes from another guitar repair man named Doc Rathwell of Fretted Revival.

Guitar neck resets can be a bane for many guitar repair people and they would often have to use steam to remove the necks which can damage the guitar wood. Our Hot Knives can help to remove guitar necks without the need to use damaging steam.

Ted starts be heating the neck with a small iron and chipping away at the adhesive around the edges with metal scrapers. From there, he removes the 15th fret, which sits above the dovetail on the neck.

With the fret removed, he drills two small holes into the neck to insert the Hot Knives into. This method works with our regular Crafters Power Supplies, but many professionals opt for our Pro Variable Power Station which has adjustable heat settings.

After a little over 10 minutes, the adhesive loosens and releases the neck.
