Jolly Ani Pirate Cove Village

Ani Fronek

Ani Fronek made this creative pirate-themed village display featuring mountain backdrops, stone fortresses, and a stone pier carved and sculpted from foam. Read below to see how it was made!

To make the foam mountain backdrops, turn 1 or 2 inch foam sheets on end, then carve the tops with the Freehand Router. Use Foam Fusion to glue a spacer strip between the mountains to create more depth.

After gluing you can use a weight to hold the panels together, or use skewers if you want to keep working while the glue dries.

Paint the backdrop with watered down acrylics (grey and dry brush some black in the grooves), use foam-safe Spray glue in spots, then sprinkle landscaping turf.

For the stone pier, using the Sculpting Tool, bend the wire in a zig zag form and cut out the stairs. Then using the Engraver Tool, engrave stone work and a cobblestone top.

painted it with watered down acrylics (use shades of grey then dry brush different tans and browns on the cobblestones). Cut in deep groves to hide lamp light cords along the edge using the Engraver Tool.

Use Foam Fusion to glue everything together, then the Engraver Tool to add final details.
