Christmas Village in the Mountains

Kimberly brings us a new, beautifully designed Christmas village as part of her 2022 display. This huge village features sculpted mountain backdrops, multiple levels, and a custom-made waterfall.
“This year’s village was made possible thanks to Hot Wire Foam Factory tools. The mountainscapes are a new feature that I created because I not only wanted the depth but also the added perspective of trees without the extra expense of buying more of them.
The first photo was my first attempt, a lengthy process between sculpting and painting, but worth it. In the next photo I decided to sculpt out more dimension but didn’t want to lose valuable village real estate, so I decided to just paint some evergreens onto the foam.”
“The third photo is the backdrop mountainscape for the piece in the second photo. Both pieces were glued together as you can see in the fourth photo.
The Freehand Router works great at creating depth and the Sculpting Tool makes the rock faces of the mountains come to life without thinning the foam too much.”

“The Freehand Router made easy work of the “waterfall” feature (which was a pharmaceutical cooler) as the wire was thick enough to easily sculpt out chips/chunks from the cooler foam.”
“I can not state enough how much Hot Wire tools really add to your village projects/creations. The ability to bring so much realism to your village through these tools really steps up Christmas Village decor from plain houses on a shelf or table to a time and place that one can truly be immersed in! ”
